This week we finished our great posters on Animals in Winter and put them up around the school. 13g did a wonderful job on hers.
As well we finished up our unit on Solids and Liquids with a fun experiment. If you mix 1 cup of cornstarch with 1/2 cup of water you get a mixture that seems like both solid and liquid! This is called a suspension.
bonnie.hosie@rbe.sk.ca This is where you will learn what we have been doing in class. Pictures, videos, links and information will be available.

Preparing for Field Trip on Jan. 23
Dressing for the trip...
-toque or hat
-winter jacket
-ski pants
-high winter boots (no hiking boots, snow is deep)
-mittens or gloves (mini gloves not enough)
-warm socks (ankle socks not enough)
-neck warmer or short scarf to cover face in case it is windy
-layer - long sleeve top with t-shirt or sweater on top
long underwear or leggings under sweats
Regarding socks and mitts/gloves-the most important thing is to stay dry. Please send an extra pair of warm socks and mittens/gloves with your child. If their socks or gloves get wet (either in the morning at school or on the trip) then we can have them change into dry ones in order to stay warm. Please send the extra pair of socks and mitts in a zip lock bag labelled with their name. I will gather all the bags and the parent helpers will carry them in their back packs. This way the kids don't have to take a backpack.
Socks-Please send long, warm socks. Wool or thermal socks are best, cotton socks are the worst.
Gloves or mitts- ski type gloves or mitts are best. Little mini gloves are only good for under a pair of mitts-not warm enough for a 2 hour trip.
Any questions? Please email me at bonnie.hosie@rbe.sk.ca
Keep your fingers crossed for decent weather!

Best Gym Class Ever!
I heard over and over this last couple of days- "This is the best gym class ever!" The crazy carpeting is officially a hit. It took no time to get ready and walk across the street. We go down the hill on the Whelan Drive side so we don't end up on the lake. The kids have partners and help eachother on the crazy carpets (which tend to curl up so we need help) then give eachother a push down. Then laugh, and hoot and giggle! So much fun:) Half an hour is enough time to please everyone and get some great exercise! The kids come back smiling and sweaty when we're done.
Enjoy the pictures.
